    The STIHL MS 500i gas-driven chainsaw is ideal for forestry work. Above all, it lets you process thick wood efficiently based on this tool’s high performance and ease of use. Thanks to lightweight design and dynamic swivel behaviour, this highly manoeuvrable chainsaw impresses not only when felling and cutting to length, but also when pruning. The MS 500i is the world’s first chainsaw to feature electronically controlled injection. The innovative STIHL Injection technology guarantees optimum engine performance and excellent starting characteristics, regardless of altitude and ambient temperature. Sensors measure air pressure and internal and external temperature, and pass information on to the control unit. This can use the identified values to determine the optimum fuel quantity and ignition timing. As a result, fuel metering is assured through the opening and closing of the valve. STIHL Injection is therefore synonymous with rapid acceleration, extremely high power, and low weight:
    • The chain accelerates from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in 0.25 seconds.
    • The MS 500i achieves the best power-to-weight ratio on the market: an unparalleled 1.24 kg/kW.
    Electronically controlled fuel injection takes place in the tried-and-tested STIHL 2-MIX engine, which offers high performance with low fuel consumption. The gas-driven chainsaw features STIHL ElastoStart to protect your muscles and joints. Its HD2 air filter, captive nuts on the sprocket cover, controlled-delivery oil pump, tool-free fuel cap and side-mounted chain tensioning complete the premium features.

    STIHL Anti-Vibration System

    FOR MORE PLEASANT WORK. Vibrations can occur when you put your power tools through their paces, and these are particularly noticeable in the grip area. The buffer and spring elements of the STIHL anti-vibration system reduce the transmission of engine vibrations to the handle area and therefore to your body. The result is that your power tool is more comfortable to hold and your work is much less tiring.

    Manual Decompression

    EFFORTLESS START-UP. The decompression valve makes it easier to start your power tool. When starting, you can allow some of the compressed mixture to escape from the cylinder by opening the valve. This protects the start-up system and reduces the amount of force required on the starter cord.

    Side-Mounted Chain Tensioning

    The side-access chain tensioner makes it much more convenient for the user to adjust the saw chain with a bar wrench as opposed to the typical location of the guide bar adjustment screw.
